About GUW
Science + News + [other]. That’s us.
Grand Unified Weekly is the science news roundup for the rest of us. Sometimes that means explaining, other times it means fun-poking, and all the time it means entertaining.
Oh, and: instead of a newscast, we made it a
screencast. (
Why?)
This is a
Small Mammal joint. By which we mean it's a joint effort between Small Mammal, our
gracious benefactors at SlateV, and other
super-
talented folks.
John Pavlus created the show and writes/directs/co-hosts each episode. He once helped make a documentary for National Geographic called
The Science of Evil.
Christie Nicholson co-hosts, provides merciful relief from the sausagefest that is this whole operation, and adds vital journalistic gravitas via her association with Scientific American. She is the webby award-winning creator of
The Science of Sex.
Christopher Mims coproduces, built this site, and basically handles everything "web" about our web video. This is his fourth or fifth career in science communication.
Andrew Cahill generates our screencasts and motion graphics and puts them together all professional-like.
Hilotrons are
"a super-charged, super fun, sci-fi adventure with monsters, robots and astromen." Also: a band from Ottawa who freaking rock.
